Our trip May 22-June 2004
Harbor View Restaurant
One of our favorites restaurants, built on a pier over Manila Bay with a nice skyline view. I suggest the nilasing na hipon, drunken shrimp.

Pan Pacific Hotel
We stayed at a Japanese-owned luxury hotel for the last few evenings. One of the perks was a breakfast buffet at the 30th-floor restaurant. Perhaps I should put down the camera and actually eat something?
Manila is the world's 11th largest city, with Metro Manila having a population of 16,610,000.

Manila Bay
Ermita area, along Manila Bay. Most of the hotels and government buildings are located in this area, including the US Embassy.
You should know when I visit somewhere, I need to take skyline pictures. One of the more interesting things about Metro Manila is it is comprised of fourteen different cities, many with their own skyline.

Binondo
Across the Pasig River from Fort Santiago, this is Manila's traditional downtown area. An older area near Chinatown, it is being surpassed by the newer Ortigas Center and Makati.

Ortigas Center
Since the Asian Development Bank has been located here, skyscrapers have been sprouting up left and right.

Ortigas Center
I took this picture from a window at the SM Mega Mall. Hmm... Starbucks, McDonalds, are we really in Asia?

Makati
Makati is the central business district of Manila, and has a skyline that surpasses many American cities I've been to. The Philippine Stock Exchange is located here.

Greenbelt Center, Makati
A new trendy shopping area with lots of upscale restaurants. Do try and remember many people consider this a third-world country.

Top of the Citi restaurant, Makati
For our last evening, we ate at the Top of the Citi on the 40th floor of a Makati building.

I still can't believe how well these night pictures came out!
